Since we opened our doors in 2014, stopping the Kinder Morgan pipeline has been a key priority for Force of Nature. While much of this work has focused on mobilizing directly affected constituents to apply pressure on their elected officials, both the Federal Liberal and BC Liberal government ultimately rubber stamped the project, increasing the likelihood that construction could move forward as early as this September.
In 2017 we partnered with RAVEN Trust and the Sierra Club BC on "Pull Together to Stop Kinder Morgan," - a campaign to raise half a million dollars to support the Tsleil Waututh, Squamish and Coldwater legal challenges to the Kinder Morgan pipeline. These legal challenges represent a critical line of defence against the proposed pipeline, and its imperative that we throw our support behind the nations who are carrying them forward.
With that in mind, Force of Nature organizer Mary Lovell has been working with community groups, local businesses, and passionate citizens across BC, Canada and Washington State to support and facilitate dozens of creative, quirky and diverse fundraising events, from concerts and movie screenings to drag shows and dance parties! Her tireless, spirited and powerful community organizing work has inspired and energized our community, and raised a significant portion of the four hundred thousand dollars that that Pull Together has generated so far.
Pull Together still needs to raise another hundred thousand dollars to meet our commitment to the nations. Please support the courageous work of the Squamish, Tsleil Waututh and Musqueam nations by donating to Pull Together today.
