The call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty is a global initiative to phase-out fossil fuels and propel a just energy transition globally. The treaty is designed to complement the Paris Agreement - which doesn't mention coal, oil or gas - and fills a fundamental gap to:
● stop new exploration of fossil fuels everywhere (non-proliferation)
● phase-out existing production of fossil fuels in line with the 1.5C global climate goal (fair phase-out)
● fast-track real solutions and a just transition for every worker, community and country (just transition)
Force of Nature wants your city to endorse the treaty!
We know that the public is in support of strong climate action. Our governments need to hear this support, so we are asking our supporters to sign this petition so we can take it to the municipal governments of the lower mainland and British Columbia. We will deliver the list of names to city council in your city or town, asking them to pass a motion to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and to urge the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada to do the same. Please sign the petition. If you share your contact information with us, we will invite you to take further action, such as, contacting your local councillors directly, attending a council meeting, and other actions.
You can take action in two ways:
First - add your signature to Force of Nature's petition >>
to let your city know that you want them to join the call for a fossil-fuel non-proliferation treaty.
Second - join the call yourself at the fossil-fuel non-proliferation treaty website.
