The National Energy Board Hearings for Kinder Morgan are finally here. Over the last few weeks, environmental groups and grassroots organizations across the Lower Mainland have been coming together and kicking our organizing efforts into high gear. The time has come to put our foot down and hold our Liberal government accountable for their promise to stop the Kinder Morgan review and restore our environmental laws.
There are events planned for every day of the NEB hearings, culminating with a huge rally outside the Delta Hotel in Burnaby on Saturday January 23rd. Can you join us and remind our Liberal government that BC is saying no?
This is about more than just one pipeline. The Liberals were elected because they promised to restore our democratic institutions. As informed citizens it is our duty to hold this government accountable to that promise. Imagine what we can accomplish when our government start acting on our behalf, setting a new, more positive direction for our country, environment and economy. It's up to those of us who believe in a brighter future for our planet to step up and take the lead.
Peaceful demonstrations are being organized throughout the length of the hearings. Can you join us this week and show your solidarity?
1. People’s Injunction: Monday Jan.18th @ 11am, NEB office at 800 Burrard Street. (A group of citizens will be visiting the National Energy Board Office to reject NEB process to demand that it be overhauled)
2. Opening Day March and Rally: January 19th @ 12:00pm, Jim Lorimer Park, Burnaby
Join us as we kick off the so-called hearings with an overwhelming show of solidarity and opposition.
3. Daily presence outside the hearings: 9:00am - 4:00pm, Delta Hotel, 4331 Dominion St. Burnaby: Every day, organizers will gather outside the convention centre to show support and encourage the intervenors.
4. HUGE Rally next Saturday: Saturday, January 23rd @1:00pm Delta Hotel, 4331 Dominion St. Burnaby: Join us on Saturday the 23rd as we gather together to show our force at the massive anti-KM rally that will make the NEB shake in its boots.
All of these actions are a coordinated effort of Force of Nature, Climate Convergence, Wilderness Committee, ForestEthics, BROKE, NSNopes, Dogwood Initiative, 350.org, Vancouver Eco-Socialists, and a host of other groups, students, school clubs and community organizers. We are coming together in an incredible moment of synergy and collaboration, because this is one of those moments that is really going to count.
We need you to be a part of it too.
